「青色」を意味するラテン語の「sapphirus（サッピルス）」、ギリシャ語の「sappheiros（サピロス）」に由来する名で呼ばれ、蒼玉、青玉（せいぎょく）とも呼ばれる。 酸化アルミニウムの結晶で、モース硬度はダイヤモンドに次ぐ9。
シルキーさ、ミルキーさをかなり感じる泡色サファイアです。黒色の1点インクルージョンは言わば艶ボクロでしょうか。
The name derives from the Latin “sapphirus” and Greek “sappheiros,” both meaning “blue,” and it is also called “blue jade” or “blue gemstone.” A crystalline form of aluminum oxide, it boasts a Mohs hardness of 9, second only to diamond.
This is a blue sapphire with a lustrous, milky appearance. The single black inclusion is, so to speak, a beauty spot.
