辰砂（しんしゃ、英語: cinnabar）は硫化水銀(II) (HgS) からなる鉱物である。別名に賢者の石、赤色硫化水銀、丹砂、朱砂、水銀朱などがある。日本では古来「丹（に）」と呼ばれた。水銀の重要な鉱石鉱物。
またこの赤色から「龍の血」とも称され、コレクターストーンならではの独特の雰囲気と神秘的なオーラを放っています。
研磨することが難しい鉱物としても知られ、このような透明度に優れ強い光沢も持ち合わせる個体は希少ではないでしょうか。
昨今では「宝石の国」に登場し一躍有名に。鮮やかな赤髪に毒性を持つ特異能力で主人公のフォスフォフィライトとの関係性も深かったことが記憶に新しいです。

Cinnabar (Japanese: 辰砂, English: cinnabar) is a mineral composed of mercuric sulfide (HgS). It is also known by the names Philosopher's Stone, red mercuric sulfide, vermilion, cinnabar, and mercury vermilion. In Japan, it has been called “ni” (丹) since ancient times. It is an important ore mineral for mercury.
Its red color also earned it the name “dragon's blood,” and it possesses a unique atmosphere and mystical aura characteristic of collector stones.
It is also known as a difficult mineral to polish, making specimens with such excellent transparency and strong luster quite rare.
Recently, it gained sudden fame after appearing in “Land of the Lustrous.” Its vivid red hair, toxic properties, and deep connection to the protagonist Phosphophyllite remain fresh in memory.
