北海道石、ホッカイドウアイト、大雪オパールなどとも呼ばれ一時期大変話題になりました。
金、銀、アンチモンなどを含む希少な国産オパールです。また、非常に鮮やかで強いネオンオレンジ系の蛍光を見せます。
現在は採取が制限させているため流通はほぼありません。僅かながら板状の標本で出回ることが多く、ルースの状態で流通することもほぼ無いと思います。

Hokkaido Opal, also known as Hokkaidoite or Daisetsu Opal, became a major sensation for a time.
It is a rare domestic opal containing gold, silver, antimony, and other elements. It also exhibits exceptionally vivid and intense neon orange fluorescence.
Due to current mining restrictions, it is virtually unavailable on the market. A small number of slab specimens occasionally appear, but loose stones are almost certainly not circulating.
