光をスペクトル色にする特徴があり、グリーンの宝石ながら、赤、橙、黄、明るいグリーンと様々な色の輝きを見せます。これはダイヤモンドも持つ「ファイア」という特性なのですが、その屈折率はダイヤモンドをも凌ぎます。
