宝石展でも、なかなか出会えない希少石「スフェーン」。
光をスペクトル色にする特徴があり、グリーンの宝石ながら、赤、橙、黄、明るいグリーンと様々な色の輝きを見せます。これはダイヤモンドも持つ「ファイア」という特性なのですが、その屈折率はダイヤモンドをも凌ぎます。
マダガスカルやパキスタンが多いスフェーンにおいて、ちょっと珍しい産地であるブラジルのミナスジェライス産の個体です。美しい結晶が少ない同産地で非常に強いファイアを持っています。
Sphene is a rare gemstone that is difficult to find even at jewelry exhibitions.
It has the characteristic of refracting light into a spectrum of colors, and although it is a green gemstone, it displays a variety of colors, including red, orange, yellow, and bright green. This is a characteristic called “fire” that diamonds also possess, but its refractive index surpasses even that of diamonds.
Sphene is often found in Madagascar and Pakistan, but this specimen comes from Minas Gerais, Brazil, which is a somewhat unusual source. It has a very strong fire, which is rare in this region where beautiful crystals are scarce.
