ギリシャ語でロードが『バラ』、クロが『色』、サイトが『石』という意味からなる、バラ色の宝石「ロードクロサイト」。「インカローズ」とも呼ばれ古代インカではお守りとされてきたそうです。ファセットカットのものは希少。
国産ロードクロサイトと言えばこの産地、というほど有名な鉱山です。現在は閉山しています...。この個体は少し暗めの色とシルキーさが「ウリ」ですね。
Rhodochrosite, a rose-colored gemstone whose name comes from the Greek words for ‘rose’ (rhodos), ‘color’ (kromos), and ‘stone’ (site). Also known as “Inca Rose,” it was cherished as a talisman by the ancient Incas. Faceted cuts are rare.
This mine is so famous it's practically synonymous with domestic rhodochrosite production. It's now closed... This specimen's appeal lies in its slightly darker hue and silky sheen.
