エメラルド（英: emerald）は、緑柱石（英: beryl、ベリル）の一種で、強い緑を帯びた宝石。クレオパトラが愛したとも言われ、四大宝石の一つでもあります。和名は、翠玉（すいぎょく）、緑玉（りょくぎょく）である。世界最大の産出量を誇るのがコロンビア産。
こちらはそのコロンビア産で、エメラルドの中にパイライトの結晶が内包されている珍しいタイプ。特に今回のものはパイライト部分が多く、鮮やかな金色の輝きは何とも言えない美しさです。
Emerald (English: emerald) is a type of beryl, a gemstone characterized by its intense green color. It is said to have been beloved by Cleopatra and is one of the four major gemstones. Its Japanese names are Suigyoku (翠玉) and Ryokugyoku (緑玉). Colombia boasts the world's largest production volume.
This particular piece is Colombian-sourced, featuring a rare type where pyrite crystals are inclusions within the emerald. This specific specimen contains a particularly large amount of pyrite, and its vivid golden luster possesses an indescribable beauty.
