「青色」を意味するラテン語の「sapphirus（サッピルス）」、ギリシャ語の「sappheiros（サピロス）」に由来する名で呼ばれ、蒼玉、青玉（せいぎょく）とも呼ばれる。 酸化アルミニウムの結晶で、モース硬度はダイヤモンドに次ぐ9。
当店でも大人気のシルキーサファイアです。こちらはピンク主体で、他のパープルやシルクインクルージョンが地色の邪魔をせず色合いに溶け込んでいるところが良きですね。非常に強い蛍光も楽しめる一石。
The name derives from the Latin “sapphirus” and Greek “sappheiros,” both meaning “blue,” and it is also called “blue jade” or “blue sapphire.” It is a crystalline form of aluminum oxide with a Mohs hardness of 9, second only to diamond.
This silky sapphire is extremely popular in our store. Its main color is pink, and the purple and silk inclusions blend beautifully into the base color without overpowering it. It also exhibits very strong fluorescence.
