ギリシャ語でロードが『バラ』、クロが『色』、サイトが『石』という意味からなる、バラ色の宝石「ロードクロサイト」。「インカローズ」とも呼ばれ古代インカではお守りとされてきたそうです。ファセットカットのものは希少。
こちらに代表されるアルゼンチン産の高品質な個体は「アンデスの薔薇」と呼ばれ特別視されています。

The gemstone “rhodochrosite” derives its name from the Greek words ‘rhodon’ meaning ‘rose’, ‘chros’ meaning ‘color’, and ‘site’ meaning ‘stone’. Also known as “Inca Rose,” it was cherished as a talisman by the ancient Incas. Faceted specimens are rare.
High-quality specimens from Argentina, exemplified by this piece, are regarded as special and called “Andean Rose.”
