アクアマリン（Aquamarine）は、青色のベリル（緑柱石）である。名前はラテン語の「海水」を意味する語から。緑柱石のうち透明で青い色調のものの宝石名。和名は藍玉もしくは水宝玉。青みが美しいサンタマリアアクアマリンが非常に有名です。
こちらの個体は、マダガスカルという産地も珍しいながら、内部に霧がかかるようなシルキー感も強く有しています。このタイプは私自身これまでに見たことが無かったので、個性があって面白いアクアマリンだなと思って仕入れしました！
Aquamarine is a blue variety of beryl. Its name derives from the Latin word for “sea water.” It is the gemstone name for transparent, blue-toned beryl. Its Japanese names are Aitama or Mizuhōgyoku. The Santa Maria aquamarine, renowned for its beautiful blue hue, is particularly famous.
This particular specimen is rare not only for its Madagascar origin but also for its strong, silky, mist-like internal appearance. I had never seen this type before, so I thought it was an interesting aquamarine with real character and decided to purchase it!
