スファレライトは硫化亜鉛の一種で、特別な鉱脈はいらず、鉛・亜鉛鉱山から採掘されます。
そのため古くから産出が確認されていましたが、あまり産業用途にも宝飾用途にも注目はされていなかったようです。また、硬度が低く加工が難しいのも特徴の一つです。
ルースケース越しに見ると濃橙〜赤色が目立ちます。しかし開けると鮮やかなハニーオレンジ！ジンクブレンド全開です。色もさることながら内包物も少なめでカットも丁寧。
Sphalerite is a type of zinc sulfide that doesn't require special veins and is mined from lead-zinc deposits.
Therefore, while its production has been known since ancient times, it seems it wasn't particularly noted for industrial or jewelry applications. Another characteristic is its low hardness, making it difficult to process.
Viewed through the loose case, its deep orange to red color stands out. But when opened, it reveals a vivid honey orange! The zinc blend is fully expressed. Beyond its color, it also features few inclusions and a meticulous cut.
