ブラッドストーン（英: bloodstone）は、濃緑色半透明の玉髄で、赤い斑点を有するものを言う。血石、血星石、血玉石、血玉髄、ヘリオトロープ（heliotrope：太陽を呼び戻す石、太陽に向かうの意）とも呼ばれる。bloodstone の名は、赤い斑点が血を連想させることに由来する。
当店で取り扱うものもスタンダードな深い緑色の玉髄（ジャスパー）に、血のような赤い斑点が特徴。そして実はアクアマリンと並び3月の誕生石です。

Bloodstone is a deep green, translucent jasper with red spots. It is also called bloodstone, bloodstone jasper, blood jasper, bloodstone, or heliotrope (meaning “stone that calls back the sun,” or “stone that faces the sun”). The name “bloodstone” comes from the red spots evoking the image of blood.
The specimens we carry feature the standard deep green jasper with distinctive blood-like red spots. Interestingly, it is also one of the birthstones for March, alongside aquamarine.
