熱したり圧力を加えたりすると帯電する性質から、和名を「電気石」という「トルマリン」。無色から黒まですべての色がそろう、宝石随一の豊富なカラーバリエーションを持った宝石です。その中でも特に美しい発色のものには特別な名前が与えられます。青には「パライバトルマリン」や「インディゴライト」。そして、ルビーのように赤くラズベリーのような瑞々しさを湛えた赤いトルマリンは「ルベライト」と呼ばれます。ちなみに語源はラテン語の｢rubellus(赤味を帯びた)｣からきており、ルビーの語源の「rubeus(赤)」に近いです。

深く澄んだワインのようなルベライトを、柔らかなカボションにカットしています。
艶もしっかりありながら、見るたびに心がほどけるような癒しのひと粒。

Tourmaline, known in Japanese as “denki-ishi” (electric stone) due to its property of becoming electrically charged when heated or pressurized. It boasts the richest color variation of any gemstone, encompassing every hue from colorless to black. Among these, stones with particularly beautiful coloration are given special names. Blue varieties include “Paraiba tourmaline” and “indigolite.” And the red tourmaline, possessing a ruby-like redness and the freshness of a raspberry, is called “rubellite.” Incidentally, its name originates from the Latin “rubellus” (reddish), closely related to ‘rubeus’ (red), the root of the word “ruby.”

This deeply clear, wine-like rubellite is cut into a soft cabochon.
It possesses a rich luster, yet each time you gaze upon it, it feels like a single, soothing stone that gently unwinds your heart.
